Print It Right: A Simple Guide to Document Printing for Work, Study and Home

Document printing is the everyday work of print: reports, theses, manuals, training packs, handouts and plans. It looks simple, until a page shifts, a font changes or a table gets cut off. A few habits solve most of it.
Before you upload
- Save as PDF. It locks fonts and layout, so what you see is what prints.
- Check the page size. A4 is the usual, but plans and posters may be A3.
- Look at the margins. Keep text at least 10mm from the edge.
- Check images and charts at 100 per cent zoom. If it is blurry on screen, it will be blurry on paper.
- Number your pages and check the order.
Colour or black and white?
- Black and white suits text-heavy documents: contracts, manuals, scripts, notes
- Colour is worth it for charts, diagrams, brand documents, presentations and anything with images
Tip: you do not have to choose one for all. If only a few pages need colour, ask us how to handle a mixed document.

Binding and finishing
Stapled, bound and punched options turn loose sheets into something that looks finished. For a thesis, a manual or a training pack, binding is often the difference between "a printout" and "a document".
Trends
- Print plus digital: hand out a printed summary with a QR code to the full online version
- Duplex (double sided) as standard to save paper and cost
- Clear, readable layouts: bigger text, more white space, shorter paragraphs
- Colour-coded sections and tabs for quick navigation
